Cover Versions: Gang Of Four’s Love Like Anthrax by Adalita

Well, second post after not posting anything for ten days or something but I just have included this here now on my thingy. So if you don’t know already punk music is 40 years old this year. So Aussie Radio station Double J is doing a month thing and yesterday the former Magic Dirt‘s front woman and now solo artist did a totally stripped down cover version of Gang Of Four‘s classic track called Love Like Anthrax. With just her and an electric guitar she put’s it off and turning it into a very different sounding song and even making it her own, watch and listen to it below.

If you don’t know this song, check it out it was released in December 1978 on the B-side of a 7″ inch single called Damaged Goods which both songs was re-recorded for their debut album in the following year. Gang Of Four was English band formed in 1977 which most like to called them a post-punk band.

So this cover plus three other punk covers are going to be released on 2 CD comp album. ABC/Double J is releasing selected of punk songs on a double album called Punk Is Calling with the sub-title Four Decades Of Disruption On Double J. Which I’ve included the tracklisting below, it’s not what I would pick if I could but it’s not a bad looking comp album really, hey?

So want is missing? Well, alot of stuff really but it does cover so much ground for 25 tracks. I like how an Aussie band starts the whole thing which is true off course! It goes in order for beginning to the end, kind-off. The other covers are pretty cool but it only four? Should have been 25 punks covers too! So it’s out next week too. Anyway I might have to do my own punk music thing here on my blog sometime soon.
