So I’ve just got to write something about Swans’ Love Of Love album, it’s got be my next Classic Albums post. If you do or don’t follow these pages we go back to the 90’s again which does seem like the decade I do write about the most. Here with this one but it’s reissue that didn’t come out until last December. It was so long out of print it was unbelievable and a little hard to comprehend why? Thinking about it now it made little sense, the band has it’s own record label and has been independent almost all it’s career. It was only after signing UK distributing deal with Mute that this album reappeared. It’s was an epic triple set including the album just before 91’s White Light From The Month Of Infinity and a whole disc of rare tracks from around the same time, it was pretty amazing for any fan of the band. I don’t know why but we had to wait so long for it, Michael Gira the band only founding member left in the Swans pretty much runs his label Young God Records but it’s just down to his reformed that band with a new line-up and been busy making pretty great new music with them which I might have write something more about that at a later date, OK?
I did have the Love Of Life album for a long time in back in 90’s but somewhere it did go missing for whatever reason I can’t remember it at all and when? My intro to the Swans music was the video clip to the title track on the Aussie TV show called rage once again. Twas the night Nick Cave was guest programmer just before Xmas in the year 1994, I’ve still got the video tape I record that night you know? I did get a lot of the stuff he played that night but I think this was the real biggy of the night. Maybe should put together a blog post of the night sometime? It was fave album of the mid-90’s for me but after awhile it was just in the pile of CDs and wasn’t until I was the Swans live in 2013 I when Swans mad again. It would have been one of the intense shows I’ve ever seen, got the very new album the following week, dig out the albums I had and then buy and order everything I didn’t have. The double comp album called Various Failures had to do for a while before this reissue came last year, it’s was totally amazing. Still after all these years of not listening to it, it’s a fave as soon as I start played it I remembered it so well. I was so happy to have it back again too.

It was when Jarboe was still in the band but it’s only two more studio albums after this one that Swans would break up until the 2010 reunion. I always loved Jarboe in the line-up, her singing in between Gira’s own, on this she only does the track She Crys (For Spider). Kind of do miss her in the new line-up which you say is a totally new band just using name Swans but it’s always been Gira’s band so I guess he can do what he likes with it really with the name. Jardoe has done her own solo album then. Deryk Thoma is the name of the artist who did the artwork album cover with the heads on fire from a record called Love Of Life it’s totally brilliant.
The original release date was late February 1992. I think 92 might be the year with the most amount of these posts about it now with this only the 32nd pages but with both already Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds plus Swans now. What was in the water that year? Or is it why do I love so much from that year because I think this one is not going to be the last.
So I’m going to have a go again for the next five day this week with five of these tagged Classic Albums posts and see if I can put it off? Even four will break my record for a week of these page so I’ll see if can do five or four this week.? If you’re a reader of this blog you’ll see if I can put it off too.
