OH MY GOD!
Well, the singers just keep passing away and even on Christmas day this year, what a year it’s been but it’s not over yet. One week left of the year and today Boxing day, it was just announced George Michael passed away yesterday at home with his family but at the young age of only 53.
So writing a little now after getting back from spending time with my family the last couple of days. Turning on my laptop, reading that sad news as the first thing so after that I looked for Too Funky and now I’m on my thingy so I might as well write a little post for today about this song and for him.
Too Funky is my fave George Michael song ever! I even found the cass-single of it a little while ago too? Anyone else still have got any old cass-singles? They’re singles on cassette tape if don’t know what I’m talking about. My Mother who we all when up to her new place for this year’s Xmas, was a dance teacher when I was younger as a kid so I know all those pop artists songs including Wham! and GM and they all were played a lot at that time around the 80’s/90’s. Anyway this one was always my fave of George maybe for all the models in the video but even if just listening to the track, it’s still a great song just all by itself.
It’s final single for his recording contract with Sony Music before he started legal action to extricate himself from that contract. The song was just a single from 1992 which in between his early to mid 90’s albums which was 1990’s Listen Without Prejudice Vol.1 and Older in 1996 so never on one of his albums. A longer version or extended mix was on a comp album by various artists called Red Hot + Dance to help AIDS awareness with a couple of other tracks. Then off course much later was on his best of/greatest hits comp called Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best Of George Michael and is now also on the bonus disc of the reissue of Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1, his second solo studio album too. The last little bit here I’ve added because I always find interesting fun facts about my fave songs history on releases like when and where but I don’t know if other people find it a little boring or what?
