Classic Albums: Bahdeni Nami by Omar Souleyman

I’ve just got to blog about this album now! I can’t think of better music to listen too in the world we live in right now! It’s the very first artist from the Middle East and the country of Syria to feature on my list of my favorite albums of all-time, it’s only just a couple of years old and why not call it one of my Classic Albums now? I was going to call it something else because it might be consider a bit to new or something to be called that just yet! But really why not? I loved it when it was release and still do. Bahdeni Nami is now the new-ish album for me to put on this list. What could be more prefect to shout-out to artists, to championing them, to put your support behind them, to buy their music from that part of the world who’s just coped a lot shit from a whatever you’ll like to call him but who’s now running this circus we all live in.

Over the last few days I’ve been listening to Souleyman a lot and this one is my favorite but please do check out other albums too if you like this one. It seem like there is a call to arms by a lot of people doing things as simple like this. So come on everyone, join and have listen to this epic music by this now banned artist. You really can’t label whole country’s whatever and just banned them like that idiot is doing, it’s like labelling all and every single American a redneck like him or whatever nasty word but somehow, someone did put him in change?

This is only his second proper album as in recorded in a real recording studio as such like you do the west. In his homeland, he’s got endless, countless albums releases on the favoured format there, cassette tape. Recorded closer to his home in Istanbul but he’s in exile from his native Syria. It’s also an totally open collaboration album working with the western artists like Four Tet, Gilles Peterson, Modeselektor and closing song is a remix of the title track by Legowelt. It’s the very last album Omar Souleyman released in 2015 so maybe should have gone back in time a bit or/and picked something else but I help it, I do think it’s his best but then again not that I’ve heard everything he’s record, might just to track it all down now.

All of the tracks on Bahdeni Nami are so full of greatest and happiest, I can’t help but to totally enjoy them, you can’t help but to jump around, dance or least tap your feet. Off course he’s singing in words I don’t even understand, with my dyslexia I hardly understand English most of the time anyway. He does says all his music about love which is nothing new, almost all western music has been singing about since it kicked off way back when. It’s filed under World music but what music isn’t from the world? Folk is another one thrown about too and all those labels but also into the mix is Electronic which some don’t work very well together but for me it’s couldn’t get any better at all. It’s pure brilliant, amazing songs and I just totally love it! So how about you, do you dig it?

Here’s what Omar Souleyman the man himself says about it all this:
