Cover Versions: Nick Cave’s Into My Arms by Shelby Lynne & Allison Moorer

That one is from a whole album of covers but off course I’m banging on about the Cave cover today! They’re sisters too, if you didn’t know which I didn’t until they did a Nick song. It was out about a month ago but I only came across it the other day so finally posting it on for this Monday morning blog post. Original the opening song on 1997’s The Boatman’s Call album by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. One of singer-songwriter’s most well known track but I’m still going to included his video clip and lyrics below!

I hope you like it, it’s nice sweet cover to start this week blogging. I missed a few days last week so let’s see if I can get on a bit of roll now? Off course adding to my collection of Cave covers here on my blog, the last couple of posts was a set of 15 at this link and a cover of the title track from the last album Skeleton Tree here too. Pretty short post today but oh well, I do really hope you everyone and anyone who reads or even just looks/listens enjoyed this track?

Into My Arms lyrics:

I don’t believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did, I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Oh, not to touch a hair on your head
Leave you as you are
If he felt he had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

And I don’t believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that’s true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you
Both to each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

But I believe in Love
And I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path
That we can walk down, me and you
So keep your candles burning
Make her journey bright and pure
That she’ll keep returning
Always and evermore
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms
