EDIT: For a few hours everyone believed Tom Petty was dead but in that time he was fighting for his life in a Santa Monica hospital. This story initially reported that Petty had passed away, however new information provided by LAPD police, Tom Petty’s daughter has contradicted those reports. Only now official confirmed by his manager Tony Dimitriades that Tom Petty died peacefully Monday night at 8:40 p.m. USA Pacific coast time and was “surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.”
Well, what away to wake-up after I did have my best sleep for days but then see about Petty passing away at the age 66! And plus some gunman opening firing at a C&W fest in USA like some kind-of nightmare! I don’t what to say about that but yet another sad day which we seem to be getting more and more these day than less. I’m by far not the biggest Petty fan but here’s some songs I like and I turn on this morning for him which you might like to have a listen too?
Southern Accents by Tom Petty
Southern Accents covered by Johnny Cash

Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around by Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty
Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around covered by Adalita & J Mascis

Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 covered by Tom Petty
Band Of The Hand by Bob Dylan with Tom Petty & Stevie Nicks
Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door by Bob Dylan & Tom Petty
Breakdown by Tom Petty
Including a few of his well known songs which I like, love and a lot of covers done by him and some by other artists doing his tracks. Then one some what rare song, three up from here and filling in the blanks for you it’s written by Dylan and produced by Petty in mid-80’s which was done on a Aussie double bill tour, recorded in Sydney for a long forgotten soundtrack track for a movie with Stevie Nicks on backing vocals too.
Did you know? Tom worked with Johnny Cash on those covers, you can hear him on backing vocals on the last one but he’s playing guitar on the other two tracks. George Harrison makes a few cameos above too but I think everyone knows about all that, do you?
Petty’s tracks are Southern Accents is the title track from his 1985 album, both I Won’t Back Down and Zombie Zoo are from 1989’s Full Moon Fever album. Breakdown is from the self-titled debut Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album from 1976. The first Dylan cover was from an live album thingy, Traveling Wilburys song was from one of two the Traveling Wilburys albums and Stevie Nicks duet was from Nicks debut solo album too. I hope that explain all the songs above, if not? Ask me or google them yourself. Might just have to leave it at that today! 😥

Awesome post. Thanks!
