Just Jot It January: Silence

I might be a little bored by all this now, it was fun to begin with but I started it and this month is almost over, one week left. I understand why no one is interested in these posts anymore! Anyway the next prompt word is “Silence” so I should just have a totally blank page and right at the end have something like: “Shhhhhhhhhh, your in a library”

Louise Bourgeois’ Spider, plate 11 of 11, from the illustrated book, He Disappeared into Complete Silence, second edition, 2002.

Not a painting today but printmaking, I’ve got to included Louise Bourgeois somehow. Do I need to say anymore? Google her if you’ve never heard of her!

Buster Keaton in 1928’s Steamboat Bill, Jr.

When I think of “Silence” in say films, it’s just goes to back to the days of the silence films and in my opinion Buster Keaton was greatest of those guys before the talkies came along. Do I need to say more about him too?

Now my top five “Silence” songs because yeah, it’s a music blog really!

Silence Is Sexy by Einstürzende Neubauten, the title track from the album released in 2000. Seems like you can’t stream that album online but here’s the song from comp album Strategies Against Architecture 3.

Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode, from the Violator album released in 1990.

Silence by Portishead, from the album titled Third released in 2008.

Silence by PJ Harvey, total different song just with the very same title from her White Chalk which was released in 2007.

Finishing off with an Enjoy The Silence cover, which a lot have covered it but my fave one is Tori Amos from her Strange Little Girls cover album released in 2001.

Linda is to be thanked for JusJoJan and this word was picked by Willow blogger.

Do you have a fave “Silence” song/s? Please why not let me know now? Or not?

Cheers 🙂
