I’m back today so let’s kick 2019 off with a trash bang and some bloody screaming! I did do my top ten tracks posts last year for both Megadeth and Metallica so I’ve just gotta do Slayer now! They’re the by far the heaviest, the most trash and brutal of the big four metal bands of the 80’s.
Currently on their so-called farewell tour which does make it to Australia at the start of this year but off course they’re not coming to Perth W.A. Oh well, I can still make my list of all-time fave tracks anyway. Besides with the death of Jeff Hanneman in 2013 and by far the best drummer they have ever had Dave Lombardo leaving the band in the very same year too, who were my fave Slayer members so it was all over for me then. Maybe they should have called it quits back then really but anyway, let’s just get on with the music!
Aggressive Perfector – Haunting the Chapel (1984)
Hardening of the Arteries – Hell Awaits (1985)
Criminally Insane – Reign In Blood (1986)
Raining Blood – Reign In Blood (1986)
Mandatory Suicide – South of Heaven (1988)
Seasons in the Abyss – Seasons in the Abyss (1990)
Slayer & Ice T – Disorder – Judgement Night soundtrack (1993)
I’m Gonna Be Your God (I Wanna Be Your Dog) – Undisputed Attitude (1996)
Skeleton Christ – Christ Illusion (2006)
Psychopathy Red – World Painted Blood (2009)
So that’s 1984 to 2009 of my fave Slayer tracks, including something from all the albums that I rate highly. Yeah, I’ve missed some and just had to or couldn’t cut down Regin In Blood album anymore plus got two covers which one has a Ice-T vox cameo! I just had to have both those covers, I couldn’t not included them in my faves. Both from the 90’s releases The Stooges cover was from a whole album of covers by them and that soundtrack track is a medley of three Exploited covers: War, UK ’82 and Disorder. Then those two albums from 2000’s could be the very best of any of those 80’s trash metal bands later days/years or whatever you call that? The last two are killer cuts and are bloody great so don’t miss then just because it’s not their 80’s stuff but off course do I even need to say anything about Slayer’s 80’s tracks?
I guess I’ve got to do the last of the big four trash metal bands, Anthrax next to finish this set of acts off? They’re my least liked of the four of them but I don’t hate them or anything and think I can easy make a list of my ten fave tracks by them because as teenage I listen to way too much 80’s/90’s metal!

Anyone out there going to share your fave Slayer track/s with me now, pretty please?
Cheers 🙂
Nice selection. I was quite impressed with Repentless just a couple of years back (the track that is, well the album wasn’t bad) and I’ve always loved South Of Heaven & War Ensemble a lot. Like you list and live your reasoning for them too. Shame Slayer aren’t coming close to your twin in the big farewell tour. The line ups have been insane this tour. I last saw them touring World Painted Blood. Must have seen them ten times since the 80’s.
