I lived in the country where the dead wood aches
In a house made of stone and a thousand mistakes
Where the glory of morning got crushed by the burden of day
I went down to the seaside, it was light and easy
But it was salt in my wounds, I won’t ever be free
Though alone getting drunk on a beach ain’t a bad way to be
But I don’t ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever want to change
I say your life would be much easier if you only had yourself to blame
I don’t ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever want to change
I ran a store for six months
Took a match one night
Left concern impaled on a receipt spike
And all hope petering on a leaky roof
And an electric heater up the back of the room
Well the assessor came early to walk the ashes
Showing high spirits wouldn’t have helped my chances
I got the money in a week and for a while everything was fine
But I don’t ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever want to change
I say your life would be much easier if you only had yourself to blame
I don’t ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever want to change
See your doctor
Take the cure
Then you’ve got it made
But the vertigo keeps telling me to stay away
In two weeks flat I’ve seen the Zoloft put my baby in the grave
I’m saying I don’t ever want to change
I don’t ever want to change
I know my limits well
Seems they’re never that far away
OK, part two of hiding songs or here’s another of my all-time fave song just all by itself in a blog post, just above the lyrics and you choose which steaming player thingy you want to use? It’s live footage video clip released by the band’s record label of that time, ATP. The song is from the album entitled Gala Mill from the year 2006, this was the fifth track or kind-of a bit over halfway point of the nine songs on that album. Lyrics are by Gareth Liddiard and music by all The Drones are the songwriting credits. The second line in is what my blog is named after, you know? I might just leave it at that, not rant/ramble on and on about it OK?

Cheer 🙂
this is the lyric i think about every morning on the way to work –
“Where the glory of morning got crushed by the burden of day”
didn’t he reuse part of these these lyrics in baby on wait long?
I went down to the seaside, it was light and easy
But it was salt in my wounds, I won’t ever be free
Though alone getting drunk on a beach ain’t a bad way to be

Oh yeah, yeah! Baby² the second song on Wait Long Album did have the very same lyrics. I once did read an interview with Garry Liddiard the songwriter where someone asked him about that and hilarious he said he didn’t think anyone would notices that or something along those lines! TFS having been doing a great live version of that song to finish most of their shows last year, have you seen them live yet? Here a link to USA show which I’ve been meaning to share here but having yet: https://soundcloud.com/nyctaper/sets/tropical-fuck-storm-live-in-brooklyn-oct-8-2018
BTW did you hear/see? They’re back in the recording studio right now so fingers crossed we might be getting a second album by them this year!
Cheers 🙂

thanks man. i missed the drones in 2006 and 2008 when they played near mostly because i am idiot, and my friend and i had plans to go see them in kansas? (maybe not there but somewhere middle west) when TFS came through last year, but that fell through. hopefully they will come closer to where i live (nc/sc area) next tour, but we shall see. i just got that TFS/Liars 7″ (love liars as well) and that thing is genius. are you in the new york area?

Oh yeah, i love that split 7″ it’s so bloody great! I’m an Aussie who lives in Perth, W.A. but did see both Lairs and TFS in Melbourne late last year, at two diff gigs but they should have been played together really, now that would be insane!
I think they were saying they were planning another USA much bigger tour sometime this year so hoping it works out and you can see them, they’re a epic live band! 🙂
