Classic Albums: Virus 100 by Various Artists

The second album of 2019 to be added to my CA list or fave albums post like list quickly follows last week’s one! Oh yeah, off course V.A. tribute albums count too! To me, this is the total ultimate one! OK, that’s the last explanation make I promise! Sorry, I already broken that promise!

Anyway I think this one has something to do with perfect timing for me at least. It was released in 1992 and could one of the very first comp album full of covers which in early 90’s for me is by far and away the real keeper. Every man/woman and his/her dog/cat got a tribute album back then and I got a little carry away so pretty much every single one of them, even if they were totally useless. But the Dead Kennedys one here rise to the top of all of them. In truth, I think this is the one and only tribute or cover comp album on my little list, just to prove how much I love this one. Some might listen to this because I’ve named it today and might just thinking WTF am I listening too?

Going out on a limit now, I’m going to say it’s the best line-up of acts or I guess it’s just my own fave line-up of bands/artists. A couple of these acts already have an album on my CA list and some more are coming soon to be given a post but some have missed out so I feel bad about that and including this album they don’t now!

If you don’t own this album you miss out on history lessons like this one above where prehistoric man fight over records!

Punk is one of my fave styles of music, if you’ve been following this blog of mine this is no big news flash now. Dead Kennedys are one of the greatest punk bands from the late 70’s and early 80’s but you don’t need me to tell you that? The album title is the catalog number and in part celebration of hitting triple figures. Punk was a DIY movement and this label called Alternative Tentacles is owned by Jello Biafra‎ the former founding member, leader, singer, songwriter of the Dead Kennedys. You could know all this I’ve just wrote too, nothing new to you? Anyway I totally love this one wholeheartedly and I don’t know how to justified it and for that matter I’m pretty shit at coming up with any kind-of real reason for any and all my fave albums on this CA list of mine!

This list below are my 117 favorite albums, so far because I’m in the progress of blogging a post per album but over the 2018-2019 change of the year break I did count and numbered all of them to somewhere around a little over 300! So really I’ve got a very fuckin’ long way too go anyway now Virus 100 by Various Artists is the 118th album post!

Who else really digs Virus 100 comp album? Or wanna say something about it?

Cheers 🙂
