Playlist: Dirty Three Rage guest programmers in 1998

Continue to bang on and on about this band on my blog but it’s ll three band members picking these songs in today’s post! Rage for oversea readers/listeners/followers is a late night TV show on Saturday-night here in Australia when one music-act takes over the ABC channel and play the promo video clips they wanna see! I’ve got old box of VHS of my faves and few years back I put a some on DVD, if I was smart I should upload it to YouTube but laptop disc driver is total fucked! Anyway I like making lists that play so here’s all the songs they played that night, trying find the same videos was sometimes tricky but it’s at least the same song. Every four/five/six video/songs the band members intro’s some of the songs here’s one each intro’s quotes from Mick, Jim and Warren:

Warren: “I’ll like to played The Reels’ Quasimodo’s Dream, who Dave Mason is one most beautiful blokes in Australian rock.”

Jim: “This is In The Ghetto by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Mick just said the video is pretty bad but I kind-of like it because it was just filmed in a garage but it’s dressed-up like Mexican shrine or something?”

Mick: “OK, this is In The Raw by Lubricated Goat and it made Australia television history because they were first band to play nude live on TV.” Laughing, clicking his fingers and clapping hands.

Worth noting Jeff Buckley videos played just before Dirty Three Rage guest programmers part started, I think the reason was at this point it time was only one year since Jeff passed away. After the selected songs the Dirty Three videos clips played which I’ve found three and then after that because Warren had only one year earlier just joined another band called Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds all their videos without Ellis in them got played that night too.
