Classic Albums: Perfect 305 Albums

Classic Albums: Perfect 305 Albums

Only perfect to me, most likely? It’s my greatest or biggest list ever on my blog! Maybe, it’s just insane bonkers? Because I’m taking a blogging break it’s now time to just share the final and full list of my all-time fave albums! Which was really the main reason I first started this blog for and only taken something like five years NOT to blog post each album but all those I did they’re linked back to their post. For some totally mad reason I got it into my head: each album should have a blog post!

Yeah, I know some very big huge names are missing but I’ve got someones no one really talks about at all are included, then some in between them. Plus it’s all really down to my own personal taste! The stats are no one single act has three albums on my list I’ve cut it down to only seven groundbreaking acts with two albums each, which are: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Dirty Three, Einstürzende Neubauten, The Drones, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Bo Diddley. Which does sound about right for me, what do you think dear readers/listeners?

The singers/songwriters/musicians who have worked under more than one name are more luckier, some are: Adalita as solo artist and with band Magic Dirt, Layne Staley with both Alice In Chains and Mad Season, Michael Gira with both Swans and The Angels Of Light, Syd Barrett with Pink Floyd and solo, Will Oldham under both Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Place Music, Bill Callahan as Smog and solo, Nick Cave with The Birthday Party and The Bad Seeds, Henry Rollins with Black Flag and Rollins Band, Ron Peno with both Died Pretty and Darling Downs, Mark E. Smith in both The Fall and Von Südenfed, Gareth Liddiard solo and The Drones also in Spencer P. Jones And The Nothing Butts, Rowland S. Howard solo and played with both The Birthday Party and Lydia Lunch, Ed Kuepper solo and both The Saints and Laughing Clowns, Kim Salmon with Scientists, The Surrealists, Beasts Of Bourbon and Darling Downs, Spencer P. Jones with Beasts Of Bourbon, The Johnnys and The Nothing Butts, Tex Perkins with Beasts Of Bourbon, The Cruel Sea and Tex, Don & Charlie, Don Walker in the former and solo, Mark Kozelek as Red Hourse Painters, Sun Kil Moon and solo, Mark Lanegan solo, Mad Season, Queens Of The Stone Age and Lanegan Band, Mike Patton with Faith No More, Mr. Bungle and solo, Lou Reed with The Velvet Underground, Metallica and solo, Warren Ellis with both Dirty Three and The Bad Seeds, Blixa Bargeld with both Einstürzende Neubauten and The Bad Seeds, Josh Homme with Kyuss and Queens. Might just have to stop now but to say the least or a lot just a few cross overs!

I was somehow going to figure out what each year got what? You know which one got the most or less etc. but I can’t be stuffed right now so maybe later sometime or can someone else do the maths for me because I’m so shit at it, OK? It’s end date was before 2015 because that’s when I started doing this little, long project. The formats I do own them on are CD’s the most because I’m a 90’s kid and I do like a clear-crisp sound but some are doubled on vinyl or cassette tape and then they all were tripled on my now totally fucked-up laptop, thank shitfuck I backed it up! People, if you haven’t back-up your music lately please do because these silly little things we use do sometimes stop working without no warning! Maybe, that’s the main or real reason I’m taking a break blogging, if you wanna know? The top hits/views album post of all-time is Sex by The Necks, if you’ll like to know? I think, this is because people could be searching for some kind-of neck porn or they’re way more popular than I do know?

Alphabet order (not backwards) but after the said letter it’s by years of release, OK?

tenor
The music never stop!

Maybe, I will come back and get it done one day? But sharing the list today, if anyone/someone/everyone wanna search for them and have a listen? If so, I hope you enjoy them all!

Cheers 🙂

Well, it’s taken 4/5 years to not get halfway, post per album but it’s the list I’ve been using and might as well share it now! Might do more posts/album write-ups at a later date or something? Check it out, like to know if and when you do? you know which you dig the most? etc. no rush, just enjoy!
      Cheers MJ 🙂

I have backed up all my music on two external hard drives, one I keep at home, and one at my cousins place. My music collection is second only to my daughter, and just ahead of my wife…but don’t tell her I said that. Lol

The thing about listening to so much music, old or new, is that I haven’t had the time to listen to albums deeply. In the days of yore, when I had no choice but to listen to whole albums on cassette, pre internet/ pre YouTube, multiple playing of albums meant some initial albums, not instantly liked, grew on me to be loved.

While I love music, I’m not an audiophile, where the purity of sound is paramount. As long as it sounds good coming out of my iPod, or standard car stereo, I’m happy.

As for your list there is a lot I like, apart from the ones I’ve already commented on. Temple of Low Men is my fave Crowded House album. JSBX- Orange, is cool. Black Keys- Rubber Factory one of their best. Captain Beefhearts’s Safe as Milk is my fave of theirs. Black Gladiator and Cosmic Slop are awesome. Betty Davis has been criminally overlooked, and should be right up there with Aretha, Tina Turner, etc. Love Mark Lanegan. Morphine’s Cure for Pain is great. Pre-Millennium Tension, Suicide, so many great albums…

    Cheers

Might get back to post per album thingo one day but I’m giving it a break ATM and glad you’ve backed-up all your music too! 🙂

Well, I'm dyslexic so writing about something I love: Music, might help but it's most likely just full of mistakes. That title is also lyrics from The Drones song called I Don't Want To Change. Oh, my name is William and thanks for having a look.
