A to Z: R is for…

OK, I’ve not had a big huge artist for a little while in my A-Z thingo so let’s change to that today with Lou Reed! He can win my own little award show for my fave or greatest dead America singer-songwriter ever! I’ve not blogged about him in a long time, not that means I don’t love him any less, OK? I’m including his last track Junior Dad for his last album Lulu he ever release and say once again, it was one of the greatest things he ever did! Not that anyone at time cared because it was easier to take the piss out of it or something? But it was an epic wicked motherfucker of an album much like the man himself. I think it was a crying shame fans dismissed it and I’ll say again listen to it again with an open mind and try harder to understand it better and what he was doing with it and maybe might get more than at the time of it’s release in 2011. Here’s a link to a whole blog post of me defending it a few years ago, if wanna know more about what I think about it?

Half-a-dozen letter “R” I want to share with you, right now:

Essendon Airport – Rock The Falafel Bar (1981)

Australian Crawl – Reckless (1983)

Magic Dirt – Redhead (1993)

Dave Graney ‘N’ The Coral Snakes – Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Where I Hide (1995)

Adalita – Rolled In Gold (2013)

Alex Cameron – Runnin’ Outta Luck (2017)

Well, that’s another all Aussie six songs again! So gotta ask now, which do you dig the best?

  1. Well. I don’t like the Lulu-Album. But 50% of Lou’s Discography. He is one of the 10 greatest Rockstars of all time.
The problem with Lulu is: Why the Fuck adored he Metallica? Why not a realy good Progrock Band like Opeth, Glass hammer, Haken, …
or a phanomenon like wolfs in the throneroom?
And why is there no melody, no rhyme?
Its the same thing like the last Bowie chapter. His last 2 Albums are musically not my cup of tea too.
Reed and Bowie tried to stay importent, avantgarde one more time. But like modern painters they act with “too much thinkin’ too less drinkin'” underrating the feeling side themself. (Now I hope, that this sentence is grammatically not totally crap.)
So the most of the crowd say “No thanx.”
