Went to a doctor, said “I look so hard”
And with a smile on his face, pointed me to a junkyard
Look for an answer in empty doorways
Talked to a dancer, said “It’s out on the highways”
Well come on, Doctor, won’t you gimme a shot?
I’m feeling cold boy, feeling hot
Doctor said, “No, boy, you gotta learn
First I’ll shoot up and then it’s your turn”Well, anything could happen and it could be right now
And the choice is yours to make it worthwhile
Anything could happen and it could be right now
And the choice is yours, so make it worthwhileMake the cancellation and I got numb
I haven’t the motivation to get myself a gun
Look for an answer in empty doorways
Talked to a dancer, said “It’s out on the highway”
Well, here I am in the big city
I got no heart and I got no pity
Can’t you see I’m on the run?
Can’t you see I’m not having any fun?Anything could happen and it could be right now
And the choice is yours to make it worthwhile
Anything could happen and it could be right now
And the choice is yours, so make it worthwhile
Anything Could Happen by The Clean
If I take a walk down by the riverside
You might wind up drowning
With your hands all tied
Might take a fall, could break your neck
You just don’t know what you might expect
Yes you just might fade away
You might wake up in the afternoon
Wearing someone else’s clothes
Lyin’ in the heap on the corner of All Saints Road
Dreaming of somebody special
Dreaming of somebody new
Watching that somebody disappear
Cos they can’t stand you
And yes, you just might fade away
A 100 dollar room on the 21st floor
A “Do not disturb” sign, I hang it on the door
Think of giving it up, think of settling down
Think of what it would be like to be homeward-bound
Yes you just might fade away
Better keep down your voice
Cos someone might hear
Getting a little careless aren’t you
Leavin’ clues everywhere
If it’s not a burnt matchstick
It’s a cigarette butt
If it’s not a greasy fingerprint
It’s a trailer that died of love
Yes you just might fade away
Yes you just might fade away
Just Might Fade Away by The Triffids

I Really Should’ve Gone Out Last Night by Dirty Three
If I fell into confusion
Got scared but couldn’t say
If I lost my rhyme and reason
And threw away the gift of grace
Would you be my friend? If they said I don’t deserve you
That my credit was no good
If they told you I’m not worthy of your love
And you should cut me like you cut dead wood
Would you be my friend? And if you heard that I was on the town
Pissing loudly on your name
Would you find me, would you face me down?
Though your ears burned with shame
Would you be my friend? And if I said I wished I’d never been born
And my mouth could only curse
If I’d passed the point of no return
Like a poor, puking child in church
Would you be my friend?
My only friend
Would You Be My Friend? by Paul Kelly
Here’s something I’ve not done for well over 12 months! I think, you are suppose to just do one song that fits easy into one of the words? Could or Might or Should or Would but how my head works is it just goes into thinking what song have each of those four different words in the song title? Then I couldn’t just pick one of them myself so here’s all four for you to chose one, if you’ve not got the time or something for all of them? My comeback post for this Sunday, I’ve made up my own rule for myself that’s it’s Aussie and Kiwi acts only! Which might sound like that’s making it even harder but it’s very easy for myself. Most listeners/followers who know me a bit, most likely are thinking to themselves: is he going on about these artists again? But they’re all tracks I’ve not posted before at least for a longtime!
Joining last time I did do this, I remember it was Helen running the Song Lyric Sunday Theme group but it’s Jim now! Hello mate and everyone else, I’m back this weekend and does anyone remember me? I hope you all don’t mind all my southern hemisphere picks and bending the rules too? Anyway let’s see if I can make the ping back work because I’ve not done that for a long time too? I might not join in every weekend but it was fun this time so maybe that’s a good reason to do it sometime sooner again?

Cheers 🙂
Anything Could Happen…absolutely brilliant song, very catchy and never gets old.
I am not so familiar with the others, but like the Triffids. This Paul Kelly song I am also not familiar with but keen to have a listen now. Hope you have a good week. Cheers

The Clean, The Triffids, Dirty Three and Paul Kelly are all new to me. The Clean reminded me of The Kinks and The Triffids reminded me of The Doors. Your music is great and I hope you come back again.

I didn’t have time to listen to all of your songs, but I listened to the first one, and I like it. The singer looks like Bob Dylan and the lyrics are definitely Dylanesque. Good choice for the prompt!

Had a chance to see him early when he ventured over to my neck of the woods. Been a fan for years. Know you’re a big Cave guy. I like the collaboration on ‘God’s Hotel’
