Playlist: 24hrs of music Warren Ellis digs!

 

Happy B’day to me! You’re suppose to sing that to yourself as you wash your hand these days but it’s actually my b’day today, you know? I’m pretending to invite you all and any blogging mates over to my house and have a big party, we’ll just going to get totally wasted and listen tooo all these songs! I’m re-posting this insane playlist, 24 hours and 214 songs as made/picked by Mr. Warren Ellis of Dirty Three and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. I even logged into spotify after having to resetting my password tooo listen, I don’t know why I don’t like to use it but thanks to Woz I am again!

The main reason for this epic playlist other that motherfuckin’ C-19 is because Ellis has a brand new soundtrack out entitled This Train I Ride embedded in full below on Bandcamp. It’s being put out by Invada label which is Portishead’s Geoff Barrow record label and they’re asking artists to do spotify playlists, linked here. This is a playlist of music I’ve been listening to in the last few months. Somehow the idea of a days worth of music seemed the best approach and I fired them off to Redg at Invada in two instalments as I took an intermission to make a Sardine Curry.
There’s something about the abstraction of time that much of this evokes, and others that are crystalline moments.
Put it on repeat in the background. In your pocket on your iPhone. Or flick through it and delete. Be safe and take care everyone.

The soundtrack itself was you should know was somehow recorded on trains tooo, it was the Paris Metro and Eurostar in 2019 actually. Plus remember how Ghosteen album had train sounds on one of the songs, I think it was Waiting For You track? Anyway the eight track soundtrack album is out now and you can pre-order the vinyl for end of April release linked here. The film itself is a doco about America female train hoppers with bits of dialogue on the soundtrack too:
