So I think the blog post title does says everything that’s going to happen below? But tooo explain a little more I’m reading Henry Rollins’ book called Stay Fanatic!!! Vol.1 published late last year. Really is a lot more like listening and reading because I just have keep listening to everything he’s writing about. Plus then going backwards re-listening to stuff again and again! This book itself is basically Rollins writing about all his most fave music in extreme detail, in truth I miss him making music but here he’s saying once he stop making it he enjoy it so much more himself like back when he was a teenage before joining Black Flag.
So I wasn’t going to blog it like this, you know it was just going to be like most of my book posts which after I finish it but the music is soooo wicked great! Seems I’m blogging that 1001 book which a lot is just OK music. So I have much more taste closer to HR what they feature in that book so why not blog this one too? Then I’ve given up today and just embedding all the songs here in just the opening pages. Another reason is I don’t have to keep looking them up! This pile is a great mix of music, the first 27 songs below are his very first radio show for KCRW back in 2009 which he’s now up to 500 and something shows now? But this particularly one is beyond great and wicked! I could end up saying that about every single chapter in his book and posting them all here? For the moment I’ll say: it’s a one off blog post but I guess, we’ll see?

What do you think? Did anyone else listen to all of them too? See/heard what I mean by wicked great? Big names side by side with artists who’s less known! Rollins does highlight the then brand new Grinderman song quote:
The Grinderman track is from the Palermo Shooting soundtrack. It’s one of two Grinderman tunes included, both exclusive to the soundtrack. What a score! I had to get this because there was no way we were not going to listen to obscure Nick Cave music. Fanatic, this is what it’s all about!

BTW NOT in this book but just how my head works? I’d picked that photo of HR & NC together just above! A little bit more background to it, if you want to know or not? As far as I know this was when Grinderman was doing first America tour and for encore somewhere on the west coast both Rollins and Jello Biafra of The Dead Kennedys were invited to sing backing-vox for The Bad Seeds’ song Deanna. Also remember Rollins had to quickly teach Jello the words because he’s not much of a fan and didn’t know? It’s easy, it goes like this: “Oh Deanna, Oh Deanna” etc. searching for that on YouTube too:
Cheers! 🙂
A lot of these songs I know, but it’s going to be cool listening to them all! Thanks for listing them. 🙂
