Song of the Day: Ai Ga Bani by Ali Farka Touré & Toumani Diabaté

Off course, I’ve not done any African music for a while because I’ve not done much blogging lately but here’s a double bill today! A couple of giants together from west Africa on this track and album! Oh well, they did release a second album as a duo too but this was Ali Farka Touré last album the time, one of the world’s most under-rated guitarist sadly passed away after this album was put out. Toumani Diabaté plays an African harp like instrument called a Kora and them both playing together it’s pure magical!

In the Heart of the Moon was the name of that album and was released in 2005. It was recorded using a mobile studio in the Hotel Mandé on the banks of the Niger River in Bamako, Mali. Here’s the album’s Wikipedia page for more info, if you want read the credits etc.? Online order copy’s from the record label on LP and CD are both linked, if you need/want one but here’s the full album streaming on youtube:

Cheers! 🙂
