Song of the Day: Ain’t No Way by DMX

OK, I really don’t feature very much hip-hop at all on my blog so you better make to most of this one! I loved this back in the day, it’s total gangsta rap from the late 90’s! I don’t know but DMX, I think isn’t remembered as well as some other rappers of the 90’s? This track is from his 1998 album entitled Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood and as you can see, it’s the one were he’s covered from head to toe in blood! Do you remember it now or not? It was pretty big at the time, you know? That album title doubles as a Bible quote before you say it’s just glamorising violence!

Anyway I did read somewhere about making that album cover and it was 60 gallons of real blood, I think it was pig’s blood or some poor farm animal’s blood. The photograph or album cover artist/designer didn’t think DMX would do it at all! But got it all really to go anyway because he had a whole bath tub full of blood waiting from the rapper and didn’t tell him his idea before he showed up at the studio. Off course, it’s prefect to go with the album title and DMX didn’t loved the idea at first but as you can see, did it in the end and it’s totally iconic now!
