Song of the Day: Alice Wading by Dirty Three

So today I’ve been told by WordPress it’s my five year anniversary because I registered well, this day five years ago and it seems I’m still doing this! After days/week off my SOTD posts here’s the next one for your weekend, maybe it should be called song once a week or something? It’s mid-day here so I’m running a little late than my nomal morning blog posting but at least I got something up, I guess?

It’s the opening track from the D3’s 2003 album entitled She Has No Strings Apollo. Was the sixth album by this Australian trio which I’m pretty sure it was recorded in Paris, France. Today’s fun fact: Alice Wading can be heard in the America movie entitled Mud staring Matthew McConaughey of 2012. I think, I would say it’s one of his better films, here’s the trailer:

It’s the very first Dirty Three song in this SOTD set I’ve been doing but that’s Warren Ellis’ band so he’s popped up with his solo soundtrack song linked here and track in his other band, that is Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds linked here. Jim White plays drums with just about everyone, the last time I’ve notied him was not that long ago on the Joan Jett’s T.Rex cover of Jeepster so let’s included it today as extra super duper bouns song:

Guitar player of Dirty Three Mick Turner is way less prolific than both Woz and Jim but here’s his facebook page link, he paints all D3 album covers and you can find some of his paintings for sale online linked here too!
