We’re back again for SOTD post in the early 80’s and Aussie rock again but we’re in 1981 today! This track was released both on indie and major label, once the original version was on their debut release which was self-titled EP on indie called Phantom and then signing with major label for debut album which was which self-titled as well, on Mushroom but that was a re-recorded version. I think, both was out in the same year? Above is the official video clip which is just them playing the song live. Sunnyboys overall story was pretty short one because of a major label killing their own investment by hammering them, not stop touring and recording album circle so albums did go downhill until they had to break-up just to have a break themselves. Releasing couple more albums in three years before calling it quits. Reunions have happened since then but well spaced out and bit more sensible, even another one album came in 1989. Oh yeah, they where a Sydney band tooo.
Extra bonus song today: I also do have a favorite cover version of this one, gotta be from Jimmy Little’s Messenger album, an epic album full of Aussie cover songs of 1999:
The Alone With You lyrics are:
We can lock away the bad memories together,
Close the doors to the past forever.
Watching you touch,
We’re past this much.
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
I can’t always remember what I say,
I can’t always take it having to pay
Watching you walk,
You know you’re really attractive.
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
I know it’s hard when you have tried,
When the conversations terror, you have tied.
Making out you still don’t know,
All I have is alcohol so let me go,
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you
I’m alone with you
I’m alone with you
I’m alone with you
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
I’m alone with you tonight
Plus here’s the 2014 remaster their eponymous debut album expanded edition with demo sessions and songs that didn’t make the cut the first time around adding up to now to a huge 37 tracks, originally was only 12 songs:

Cheers! 🙂
