Playlist: TFS Rage Guest Programmers

So here’s a Tuesday post and finally first one for or starting this month! Yet another playlist but as you can see/hear it’s NOT the next yearly one like the last couple of months because I was somewhat distracted by Tropical Fuck Storm! Who were on Aussie TV, ABC’s late night weekend music show picking all the video clips last Saturday night. So just made it into a YouTube playlist and now sharing with whoever is out there on my little blog, if anyone cares?

It’s almost eighty video clips, highly entertaining song selection if you wanna check it out? Rage did had them talking in-between, if you’re overseas or never seen it or never heard of Rage? It’s just video clip tv show that’s been on Aussie TV since something like late 80’s or something? On almost every Saturday night they ask artists/bands to pick some videos and every few songs whoever the guest programmers are talk about them. What I remember of the talking bits it seem Gareth Liddiard and Erica Dunn did more intros that Fiona Kitschin and Lauren Hammel but everyone joined in talking about these videos. Vaguely it was something like this: GL picked Dolly saying she reminded him of his Mum, FK picked Madonna who told a funny story from her childhood. ED picked MC5 but somehow ended-up all talking about going their movie years ago which then seen Rowland S. Howard there afterward who say he’s never been a big fan of them so he’s been missing out all this time, ED picked Warumpi Band saying white Australia should shut-up and listen because still so current today, GL picked Pilgrim Brothers saying they be invited to play in Broome W.A. with them and should really go one day. GL intros Dirty Three saying years ago FK and him while in The Drones played with them in Rome which Warren Ellis dedicated this song to her. FK intros Xylouris White by saying this video clip has George Xylouris and Jim White Mothers dancing in this video then GL added both their Mums are dead, LH intro The Nation Blue by saying playing after them live who they’re a very hard act to follow, ED picked Dead Moon while wearing their T-shirt tooo, LH picked Post Truth who are from Newcastle N.S.W. where she’s originally from as well, GL asked LH what she now thinks of her “old mate” Lars Ulrich from Metallica?, GL intros Kirin J Callinan but couldn’t say his last name right and thinks he wasn’t on drugs while making this video clip, GL picked All the Weathers saying they’re a crazy band from Hobart Tasmania, ED intro Genesis Owusu who’s from Ghana by way of Canberra A.C.T. and then intros their own video clips of The Future Of History and New Romeo Agent. It was all filmed at home while Victoria was still in locked-down and off course, the playlist below is missing those talking bits but music is bloody wicked, hope you enjoy it? If you press play? BTW Gaz and Fi old band The Drones were Rage guest programmers in 2009 and 2016 linked which I’ve blogged before and have made playlists on YouTube tooo, full tracklisting linked to the older posts all about them but might as well just embedded both of playlists right now just below. All dead vids etc. have been edited out now so should hopefully be playable all the way to the end, if you press play?

In 2009 was just after the release of their Havilah album and on Rage was the full four members band line-up of Mike Noga, Dan Luscombe, Fiona Kitschin and Gareth Liddiard:

In 2016 was just after Feelin Kinda Free The Drones’ final album. On Rage was three of the four main members but no drummer also had keyboard player and back vox singer. It’s was Fiona Kitschin, Steve Hesketh, Gareth Liddiard, Amanda Roff and Dan Luscombe:

Interesting or maybe not at all? No video clips were chosen three times but Patti Smith’s Because Of The Night was the only song picked twice when both times The Drones did it. After this weekend with TFS a few more songs appeared two times: Lose The Baby by Lost Animal, Marry Me by These Immortal Souls, Holy Joe by Laughing Clowns, Drunk On Election Night by Dan Kelly, Execution Day by Spencer P. Jones, My Pal by GOD, Puss by The Jesus Lizard, How Low Can A Punk Get by Bad Brains, Suggestion by Fugazi, Blood Red River by Scientists, Sue’s Last Ride by Dirty Three, Life/Thrills by Lower Plenty and For A While by Nina Simone.

Anyway who’s watched/listened to the new one? Or maybe all three of them of sixty plus songs each?

TFS are Fiona Kitschin, Erica Dunn, Lauren Hammel and Gareth Liddiard (left-right) also a pet fox terrier on RAGE this weekend just gone!

Cheers! 🙂
