America
America
America
America
You are so grand and gold, golden
Oh, I wish I was deep in America tonight
America
America
I watch David Letterman in Australia
Oh, America
You are so grand and gold, golden
I wish I was on the next flight
To America
Captain Kristofferson
Buck Sergeant Newbury
Leatherneck Jones

They don’t care to mention

Well, it’s hard to rouse a hog in delta
And it can get tense around the Bible belt
America

All the lucky suckle teat
Others chaw pig knuckle meat
Ain’t enough teat
Ain’t enough teat
Ain’t enough teat
Ain’t enough teat
Ain’t enough teat
Ain’t enough to eat
In America
America
America
In America
Now
Yet again I’ve kicked off this post by embedded the video clip and then got all the lyrics for America! Yeah the song title has got an exclamation mark on the end in that word so I’ll end my sentence about that with one toooo! I throw in exclamation marks most likely way toooooo much but why NOT? Anyway that song is three songs into BC ‘s wicked epic album entitled Apocalypse of 2011, it’s on Bandcamp linked here. I’ve done blog posts on Bill way more than a few times so if you know nothing about about him you could google him yourself or here’s my own top ten tracks post on him, linked here. If NOT on my reco, Nick Cave himself has called it as one of his most favorite LPs because it’s some of the best songwriting on it or something like that, he’s name dropped it more than once over the years, you know?
So start a few songs about that country today, I’ve picked out only a few tracks about it or that’s songs named after it but I know they’re a lot more I’m NOT posting! Today’s is first of my little top five “America” songs, that’s off course songs beginning with the word “America” NOT everything from there or something?
BTW English band called Squid only last week dropped a cover of this BC song so might as well included it to end today’s post:

Cheers! 🙂
Another post of yours that prompts me to write something – thanks for doing that, William!
While I never really got into Smog and BC, “out of the blue”, my son discovered him in the past couple of months, and is repeatedly playing him!!! My son used to think “all” country (sounding) music was corny, but now, he’s gained a new appreciation for some of those sounds, thanks to BC. Not sure exactly why, but if my boy is finding his way to individual’s such as this, and their music, then I am really happy about it 😉 Keep it up, William!!
