Song of the Day: Another Rousing Chorus You Idiots!!!! by The Drones

I have had night sweats and 3am cold
I now have a mattress that’s covered in mold
I have gained nothing, short of all that remains
You were not easy to break

I have seen mountains stop short of the sky
I have seen continents reach the ocean and shy
I have only heard stories of the subterrain
You were not easy to break

I have searched London and I have searched Rome
I have spent thousands, most of it loaned
Now probes straddle asteroids with spider like chaste
You were not easy to break

Come pour it in, pour it in!
You won’t ever be full, you won’t ever be free
There is no use for order, you’re able or not
Meant to die on your feet
Admit you are only 2 inches away from
Zero control again

I have had beauties and charred fire breathers
I have drank whiskey and methylated spirits
I have seen harder men shrivel and flake
You were not easy to break

I have seen scientists straining to fathom
In one hand a ghost, in the other an atom
We were shat from the wormholes to revere your face
You were not easy to break

I have been subject to shovel and lime
Have studied core samples of the anus bovine
All manner of myopic misgivings deflate
You were not easy to break

Come pour it in, pour it in!
You won’t ever be full, you won’t ever be free
There is no use for order, you’re able or not
Meant to die on your feet
Admit you are only 2 inches away from
Your skull being turned into scree

OK, The Drones get their very first SOTD post ever but most likely blogged about them a lot or one of the most blogged band on my little blog over the years I’ve been going this shit! It’s the second last song on their 2005 album entitled Wait Long By the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By, off course it’s embedded just below if you wanna listen to the full album? What can I tell about it that I haven’t before? Most recently in that Aussie Rolling Stone mag 200 Greatest Australian Albums of All Time this LP got award number 65, linked here which was sandwiched in-between Silverchair’s Neon Ballroom and Tame Impala’s InnerSpeaker, if you wanna know?

So after this Wednesday’s SOTD post, linked here I’ve decided I’m going to be adding any letter after the “An” theme ordered and most likely are going to be my most fave tracks I can find/remember beginning with that! After the letter “Y” a couple of days ago, it’s letter “O” today which, I guess you know that already? Anyway that’s Friday’s blog post and second SOTD this week, this month. Here’s the whole album of Wait Long By the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By:

Cheers! 🙂
