Well, I didn’t even exist then but it’s bloody great year for music then and here’s my own top 30 tracks! If you wanna have a listen? Now I wasn’t really going to go this far back when I started doing this, you know? But I’ve changed my mind, they’re some great tunes.
Plus it also re-minded me I was listening that 1001 albums book last year too, which I haven’t done for a while if you’ve noticed? Or maybe not? I got a bit sick and tired of all that so I was giving it a break. Off course, this was one of the few years in full I’ve done and some acts are double up here but I think I did say at the time I love them. Here’s the link to that post if you wanna see it again or if you haven’t yet?
I’m starting with half a dozen Aussie acts. Then they’re about half English/Irish and American/Canadian, is that OK saying those together in the same breath? It’s like Kiwis don’t like to be called Aussies so sorry about that, if offend! I’ve got a couple or more cross-overs like Howlin’ Wolf is playing his The London Sessions album, yeah that’s what’s called. Eric Clapton makes it into my blog finally by playing on that but even if it’s just re-recording his old songs again I love it. The French and Germans are also included with two Japanese by way of Damo Suzuki singing with German group called Can and then Yoko Ono who off course she married some English bloke you might have heard off and they both when and lived in American by this stage. A couple of covers of old Robert Johnson blues tracks and John Lee Hooker, George Harrison covers too plus a few other songwriters credits I should give but lets just get on with it now!
